Shakespeare Pfende is elected Member of Parliament by his people so that he can become their mouth, ears and eyes. Faced with a persistently threatening drought, the people realise how their MP has deserted them in pursuit of the wealth that power has placed within his reach. The Chief has also deserted them for the comfort of the city and the people realise that they are also in a leadership drought. Through their unity the peasants arrest their MP and the charge: Preaching socialism during the day and living capitalism at night. This is an exciting play full of promise for both the experimental producer and the creative actor.
